Which Temple Spa Cleanser Is Right For You?

In my last blog, I talked about why cleansing matters so much.

Because it really does.

A good cleanse is not just about taking your make-up off. It is about removing SPF, oil, sweat, pollution and the general evidence of the day, so your skin can breathe, soften and properly receive everything that follows.

Your serum.
Your moisturiser.
Your facial oil.
Your mask.

Everything works better when your skin is properly cleansed.

But once you know cleansing is important, the next question is usually this:

Which cleanser should I use?

And the honest answer is that it depends.

It depends on your skin.
It depends on your routine.
It depends on whether you like to cleanse in the shower or at the basin.
It depends on whether you wear make-up or SPF.
It depends on whether you want quick and fresh, or rich and ritualistic.

This is why I love that Temple Spa have different cleansers for different skins, lifestyles and preferences.

And at the moment, there is a lovely Temple Spa cleansing offer too. You can save on one cleanser, or choose two and save even more, which is perfect if you want to create your own double cleanse routine at home.

So let’s have a little look at each one.

In The Beginning

This is the cleanser I always think of as the “facial in a jar”.

In The Beginning is a rich, buttery cleansing balm that melts beautifully into the skin. It feels comforting, luxurious and very spa-like, which makes it perfect if you want your evening cleanse to feel like more of a ritual.

It is designed to deep cleanse and brighten, and it is especially lovely if your skin feels dry, dull, tired or a little lacklustre. The texture is gorgeous. It starts as a balm, then melts as you massage it into the skin, lifting away make-up, SPF and the day.

It contains vitamin E and Mediterranean botanicals including olive, calendula, basil, clary and lavender, so it feels nourishing as well as effective.

I tend to reach for In The Beginning when I have had a full face of make-up on, or if I have been somewhere more polluted and feel like my skin needs a really thorough cleanse. It gives me the deepest cleansing feeling, almost like a double cleanse in itself.

I also love using it if I am having a relaxing bath, because the aroma is so beautiful and luxurious. It turns cleansing into a proper little ritual.

Best for:
Dry skin.
Dull or tired-looking skin.
Anyone who loves a balm.
Evening cleansing.
Removing make-up and SPF.
A richer, more indulgent cleanse.

I would choose this if you want that beautiful moment at the end of the day where you can properly take the world off your face.

Hot flannel essential, in my opinion.

Be Gone

Be Gone is the gentle one.

This is a soft, comforting cleanser for sensitive, fragile or easily unsettled skin. It has a unique elastic texture, which means it cleanses without dragging or pulling, so it feels kind and reassuring on the skin.

It is designed to calm and soothe, and contains vitamins A and E, Mediterranean botanicals including basil, aubergine, liquorice and apricot, plus prebiotic skincare to help leave the complexion feeling settled and comforted.

I use Be Gone in the evening sometimes, especially if I have been in the sun or my skin feels as though it needs something gentle and reassuring rather than anything too active or stimulating.

Best for:
Sensitive skin.
Reactive skin.
Skin prone to redness.
Dry or fragile skin.
Anyone who dislikes anything too foamy or stripping.
A gentle morning or evening cleanse.

I would choose this if your skin often feels like it is saying, “Please be careful with me.”

It is the kind of cleanser that feels soft, calming and kind-hearted. A lovely everyday choice if your skin needs nurturing rather than overworking.

Dual Act

Dual Act is the clever one.

This is a gentle gel-lotion cleanser that can be used with or without water, so it is very flexible. It is especially good for combination, oily or blemish-prone skin, because it helps to cleanse, balance and refresh without stripping drier areas.

That is the important bit.

So many products for oily or blemish-prone skin can be too harsh. They leave the skin feeling tight, which can make everything feel worse. Dual Act is designed to remove make-up, daily grime, impurities and excess sebum while still leaving the skin comfortable.

It contains prebiotic willowherb flower, willow bark and seaweed extracts, along with Mediterranean ingredients including olive, fig and pomegranate, plus vitamins A, C and E.

I do not personally use Dual Act quite as much, simply because my skin type is more normal to dry. However, Graham loves it. It has a very neutral, fresh aroma, which he really likes, and it feels clean and practical without being too fragranced or fussy.

Best for:
Combination skin.
Oily skin.
Blemish-prone skin.
Skin that feels congested.
Anyone who wants a fresh but not harsh cleanse.
People who like flexibility.

I would choose this if your skin can be a bit changeable.

Oily here.
Dry there.
A bit congested one week.
Fine the next.

Dual Act is a really useful cleanser to have because it suits real life skin, not perfect textbook skin.

Good To Go

Good To Go is the quick, fresh one.

This is a creamy foaming face wash, so it is ideal if you like a cleanser you can use in the shower. It is especially good for people who want something simple, effective and easy.

It cleanses and balances, but without leaving the skin feeling tight. It has a creamy foam texture rather than that squeaky, harsh feeling some face washes can have.

It contains aloe vera, carrot, bergamot, lemon, tangerine, cucumber, honey, watercress and multivitamins, so it has a fresh, uplifting feel.

I use Good To Go in the shower in the mornings. It is easy, fresh and uplifting, and it fits really well into that quick morning routine when I want my skin to feel clean and awake without making a big ceremony of it.

Best for:
Normal skin.
Combination skin.
Morning cleansing.
Shower cleansing.
People who like a wash-off cleanser.
Anyone who wants quick and simple.

I would choose this if you know you will cleanse better when it is easy.

Some people do not want a balm, a cloth, a basin and a whole moment every morning. And that is absolutely fine. Good To Go is a lovely option for people who want a fresh cleanse that fits easily into daily life.

Easy Glowing

Easy Glowing is the radiance one.

This is a vitamin C facial cleanser with a melting, silky gel texture that transforms into a hydrating milk as you massage it into the skin. It is designed to brighten, refresh and revive, making it lovely if your skin looks dull, tired or a bit flat.

It can remove make-up and daily grime, and it also doubles as an eye make-up remover, which makes it a very useful one to have.

It contains vitamin C, dragon fruit extract, astaxanthin, seabuckthorn oil, orange fruit extract and tomato seed oil, along with botanical extracts of blood orange, mango, tomato and broccoli. The aroma is bright and uplifting too, so it feels like a little burst of sunshine in your skincare routine.

This is probably the one I use most nights. I love the ease of the pump, especially when I am tired and just want something simple. I also absolutely love the orangey aroma. It feels bright, cheerful and easy to use, which means I actually do use it consistently.

Best for:
Dull skin.
Tired-looking skin.
Lack of radiance.
All skin types wanting glow.
Make-up removal.
A brightening morning or evening cleanse.

I would choose this if your skin needs waking up.

It is fresh, silky and glow-giving without feeling aggressive. A lovely one if your skin looks a little grey, tired or in need of life.

So which cleanser should you choose?

Here is the easiest way to think about it.

If you want rich, nourishing and spa-like, choose In The Beginning.

If your skin is sensitive or easily upset, choose Be Gone.

If your skin is combination, oily or blemish-prone, choose Dual Act.

If you want quick, fresh and shower-friendly, choose Good To Go.

If your skin looks dull and you want glow, choose Easy Glowing.

And if you are choosing two, think about how they could work together.

My favourite double cleanse pairings

For a beautiful evening ritual:
In The Beginning followed by Be Gone.

For dry or dull skin:
In The Beginning followed by Easy Glowing.

For combination or oily skin:
Easy Glowing followed by Dual Act.

For sensitive skin:
Be Gone twice, or Be Gone followed by a very gentle second cleanse.

For a practical morning and evening routine:
Good To Go in the morning, In The Beginning or Easy Glowing at night.

For glow:
Easy Glowing followed by whichever cleanser best suits your skin type.

You do not have to make skincare complicated.

But sometimes having two cleansers makes complete sense.

One for speed.
One for ritual.

One for the morning.
One for the evening.

One for fresh, bare-skin days.
One for make-up, SPF and “I have been out in the world” days.

The current Temple Spa cleansing offer

Temple Spa currently have a cleansing offer, which makes this a lovely time to stock up or try something new.

You can save on one cleanser, or choose two and save even more, which is ideal if you have been thinking about creating a proper double cleanse routine at home.

And if you are not sure which cleanser is right for you, please just ask me.

I am always happy to help you choose based on your skin, your routine and what you will actually enjoy using.

Because the best cleanser is not just the one that suits your skin.

It is the one you will look forward to using.

Love, Julia 🤍
